Ashley Smith

Ashley joined Blackwood Montagna in June 2026 and practices in civil litigation.

She has experience acting as counsel in High Court and District Court proceedings and advises clients across a broad range of civil litigation and dispute resolution matters, including contractual disputes, debt recovery, defamation, applications under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015, restraining order applications under the Harassment Act 1997, limited licence applications, employment disputes, Public Works Act claims, tribunal proceedings (including tenancy and general disputes), Consumer Guarantees Act claims, and resource management disputes.

Ashley is focused on providing clear, practical advice and supporting clients through often stressful and complex disputes. She takes a considered and empathetic approach to understanding each client’s situation and is committed to helping them make informed decisions at every stage of the process, whether through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
